20. Love Starts With L

Performance

Everyone was up in Misa's room, including Aiber. Misa sat in a chair at a table

across from Aiber. We were going over what Misa might say to the Yotsuba group.

"Alright! Let's try again from the top." L said into a bullhorn.

Aiber folded his hands. "Tell me Misa, is it true that you came to Japan to meet

Kira?"

Misa suddenly fell back in her chair. "WHAAAAAT?!"

L hit her on the head with the bullhorn then put it back to his mouth. "Misa!

Please stop overacting. It's too cheesy and not to mention fake."

She pouted. "Huh? But I thought that was a realistic performance," she

whimpered.

"Just do it again…" he moaned.

"Whatever you say 'oh-so-great-director'!" she said sassily.

L lowered the horn. "If you don't get serious about this I'll kick you."

I couldn't help but smile.

"Hph!" Misa quickly turned back around.

After running through the lines a few more times Misa and Mogi left for her

interview with Yotsuba. I didn't like Misa, but I did hope she'd be alright, Aiber too.

Since Yotsuba thought Aiber was Coil, they asked him to come to Misa's interview, and

ask her questions. That's why we had been running over the questions he'd ask her. I was

surprised to find when she wasn't really that great of an actor at first… But she

eventually got into the mood. We all were now in the main room waiting for Misa and

Aiber to come back.

"Man… I wonder if Misa Misa is alright. Maybe we should've wired her or used

something to track her movements," said Matsuda.

Light was staring at the computer with the victims of Kira. L was just sitting and

eating more sugar. I noticed a marshmallow and quickly took it. He gasped and quickly

looked at me as I ate it and smiled. He smiled back then went back to eating his sweets.

The Chief and Reicheru were at a table looking over a few things. I felt bored at the

moment…

We all sat at our desks waiting for Misa. She should've been back by now… L

had his cup off coffee that Reicheru would bring him now and then.

"Man… Misa Misa is sure late," said Matsuda.

Good thing Aizawa isn't here to hear him say that… I thought.

L just sipped his coffee.

A few moments later we heard the doors open and Misa and Mogi came in.

"They're back!" Matsuda shouted.

Misa waved. "Hey!" she then sighed and walked over to Light o sit in his lap. I'm

exhausted…"

Light stared at her weird. "H-hey…"

"How did it go?" L asked.

"Yotsuba agreed to hire Misa as their spokesperson for their new ad campaign,"

said Mogi.

L smiled a bit. "I see. That's good to hear."

Misa giggled. "And I made sure to give them my cell phone number. Would you

believe seven guys already messaged me asking for a private date?" Misa showed Light

the phone.

I laughed. "Why would they do that?"

Misa growled at me and I growled back. She then ignored me and smiled at L.

"So now I accept their requests and inspect them right? Oh it's going exactly as I

planned!"

"No! The plans getting canceled right now," said Light.

Misa looked back at him confused. "Huh? But why?! Everything's been going so

smoothly up until now."

Light gently pushed her up. "If we go any further you'll be in danger. You can

still appear in their commercials, but from now on you should deny that you were

suspected as being the second Kira and being captured by L. Mogi will continue to be

your bodyguard but you'll be working manly as a celebrity."

Misa gasped then whimpered. "If that's what you want, Light, then that's what I'll

do."

L glanced back at her. "Hmm…"

I bet he really wishes Light would make her do what he wanted. But Light was

right, he shouldn't use her emotions.

Misa waved. "Oh, well, I'm feeling pretty tired. Tomorrow's shoot is bright and

early so I better get to sleep!" she skipped off to the door giggling.

We watched her a bit strangely. Once she got to the door she hid halfway behind

it and smiled. By this time L and Light were looking back at the computer.

"Hey Light, want to come sleep with me tonight?"

Light looked back at her like she was crazy. "W-What are you talking about?"

She giggled and stuck her head through the door. "Just kidding! You're saving me

for after we catch Kira, right? You don't have to be shy about it." And with that she left.

I stared wide eyed at the door then slowly looked back at L and Light.

"Yes Light, there's no reason to be shy." L said.

Light glared at him. "I'm not being shy!"

L looked up at him. "There's no reason to be so serious either."

I couldn't help but laugh.

~~~~NIGHT~~~~

Mogi ran into the building. "Misa Misa is gone!"

We both looked back at him. "WHAT?!" We all yelled.

"She asked to go to the bathroom, and I let her. After a few minutes she came out,

but it was someone else! She said Misa went on a date!"

"Misa you idiot!" Light yelled.

I slapped my forehead. "Misa… You're ruining everything…" I moaned.

~~~~LATER THAT NIGHT~~~~

We heard the doors open and we all quickly turned around to see Misa run in.

"Misa! Are you alright?" Light asked.

She ran over to us. "Perfect! And guess what I got?!"

"What?" L asked.

I eyes her, she was wearing a nurse uniform. Sneaky brat…

She took out her phone and pressed something then held it out to us. One of the

men from the Youtsuba group's voice came on.

"I see… That's a good idea. Alright Misa, I'm Kira. So in order for you to trust

me and prove that I'm him, I'll stop killing criminals for the time being. Then once

you're fully convinced that I'm the real thing, you and I can get married."

Misa turned off the phone. "And so, based from what he said… Higuchi is Kira!"

I remember that guy! He was a really big flirt at Misa's party… He was the one

with the red spiky hair. He was such a creep...

We all stared at her with our mouths wide open. None of us said anything for

awhile. Matsuda eventually smiled.

"Now not only do we know Kira's identity, but all those deaths that were

worrying the Chief are gonna stop! That's amazing Misa Misa!"

She looked at her phone proudly then flashed us a peace sign.

I looked at L to find him glaring at the computer. What was wrong…?
